First Impressions

Three responses to an open invitation: make art from the platform. Astra, Fable and K3.1 each chose what to notice and how to give it form. The collection moves through remembered moments, repository history and an imagined workshop.

About this collection

  1. Fine gold, rust, green and blue lines flow across a dark blue field, gathering into four strands that rise, cross and separate around small points of light.

  2. A tall field of pale and coloured threads sits against a dark brown ground. Horizontal rows vary in density, with loose ends and empty spaces interrupting the weave.

  3. Golden threads connect translucent sheets above an empty chair and a wooden workbench. Brass mechanisms fill the left side, a loom fills the right, and a stream runs through the workshop toward an open mountain landscape.
